The heart on our February 2012 cover was motivated by the
tapestry included in "At the Hop!" on page 86.These directions make a
heart around four feet by four feet.
MATERIALS
• Tissue-paper
pom-pom units (2 expansive, 2 medium)
• 24
ten-inch pieces flower wire
• 1
tissue-paper pom-pom laurel pack (for smaller than usual size)
• 24
removable cement divider snares
STEPS
1. Remove 4
sheets of tissue paper from 1 of the pom-poms, and accordion-crease them along
the prescored lines. Overlay a length of wire around the inside, and curve to
close (leave a 6-inch tail of wire for connecting to divider). Working in
clusters of 4 to 8 sheets, which will make a portion of the pom-poms more full,
rehash to make an aggregate of 30. At that point rehash to make a sum of 10
smaller than normal pom-poms. (Discretionary: Mix tissue paper in various hues;
utilize a red sheet on the base to make a darker pom-pom.)
2. Fan out
the layers of tissue paper: Separate 1 sheet at once, and pull it upward.
Rehash with each layer, at that point with every pom-pom.
3. Position
the pom-poms on the divider: Play around with arrangement, and utilize a pencil
to daintily check where to stick each snare. Connect snares to divider, and
utilize overabundance wire to hang pom-poms.
